Why
didn't our Web designer / Web Master include SEO?
SEO professionals hear this constantly
. The answer to this question is simple. Without
knowing your web designer I will tell you to call
off the posse and put down the weapons along with
the noose. Generally speaking Web designers attempt
to give their customers what they may have envisioned
in terms of aesthetics, functions and some basic
logic. At the point of design they are not trying
to appease the Google Gods or even their pet spiders.
They are simply working toward the finish shine
and luster of the site the owner has envisioned.
With that being said, many designers may include
the basic frame work and pop in some key words
and description before they turn over the masterpiece
to the owner while others either don't bother
or simply don't get into it stating, "I'm
a designer not a seo guru."

A more basic answer is, it's usually
not in the specifications when the designer takes
on a project due to the fact the owner is usually
focused on looks and function rather than how
well the site will do in the indexed rankings
of search engine (SEO) world. The focus of SEO
Optimizing a site doesn't set in until someone
wakes up and says, "hey, those thousands
of dollars we spent on the site are going to waste
unless we are found by the search engines. The
sad truth is, search engine rankings are almost
always an after thought.
Oh we did that once a couple
years ago or yeah we tried that once....
Geesh !
This is the most dreaded answer you could possible
give a SEO professional. It is almost like a commercial
airline pilot saying, "We tried that flying
once, now we just strap people in and drive these
jumbo jets down the road. Sound's silly ? everybody
wants to be first page Google, Yahoo or MSN but
only a few understand SEO Search engine optimization
and what it can and will do for their business.
It is estimated that as much as 97% of all internet
revenue is derived from the top 30 positions of
the search engines.
SEO (search engine optimization)
is not something you pick up and try for a week
or a month. ITS REGULAR AND ITS ON GOING. Some
deem it the "gas pedal" of a successful
internet web site. get in a race and try making
it a success with out of good healthy gas pedal.
SEO is the throttle and when you are positioned
and successfully search optimized in the top 30
you don't turn your back to it. You instead maintain
its existence and insure tomorrows performance.
On another note; Don't buy into
the $19.95 widget. TRUE SEO is work and there
are no short cuts. With that being said SEO (search
engine optimization) does have a return on investment
and when you site is SEO rich you will be happy
you invested strong.

Sure we would love higher rankings but I don't
want to redesign the site.
Good because SEO professionals don't
want to redesign your site either. A SEO professional
will be focused on things like what is written
in the pages, incoming and outgoing links, external
articles, linking partners, bookmarks key words
and the niche of the page as it is to be marketed.
So, when it comes to your sites functions, logic,
tables, colors, graphics and images if your happy,
Keep them as they are because the less a SEO professional
has to deal with these items the more he can focus
on what carries weight to the search engines.
With all that being said, also understand
a good SEO professional will also have an eye
for marketing and if your design is getting in
the way of sales or sales leads the your seo professional
owes it to you to bring to your attention possible
flaws in design. From there an SEO professional
will offer options of how to fix the issue in
order to convert the sale or sales lead.

I/We have a current web designer, do I need his
approval ?
No ! This question
never ceases to amaze me. Loyalty is one thing
but its your Web site, Its your business and if
your business is losing sales due to not being
found in searches or your needing some SEO help
then WHY WOULD YOU NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND
GET ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL TO HELP?
Web Designers Typically don't do
SEO. Seo does not mean your sites design has to
change. In most cases SEO professionals communicate
with "in place" web designers and make
certain the look and the feel of the web site
is not altered. In some drastic cases design needs
to be altered. In this remote instance, the SEO
professional generally gets the designer in the
loop of information for good communication regarding
the owner's
site.
